The highly popular Moana returns with Disney’s second and almost certainly not its last instalment of Moana.

This second movie takes place 3 years later and reunites a slightly older Moana and Maui for their next adventure, after she is visited by her ancestors and advised of what she must do - to ensure the future of her people.

The first Moana was something different at the time and the whole family were entertained. The kids have enjoyed re-watching it from time to time and I don’t mind it at all. As a grown man and a Dad however, I found Moana 2 pretty forgettable. The storyline is ok - more of the same, slightly different but predictable and I was really aware of feeling that almost every scene was in song - and that in particular irked both me and the Mrs and I found us both losing interest in the movie as it went on but I suspect the kids didn’t notice.

It absolutely smashed it in the Box Office however, passing $1 Billion globally - more that the first movie managed but as a parent, it’s ‘meh’ at best.

I think mid to older aged kids will like it and younger children will love it but overall, for us, it’s a bang average 6.7/10 .
