THE POPE’S EXORCIST (2023)

THE POPE’S EXORCIST (2023)

AVAILABLE ON NETFLIX

Rated 15

I don’t often get to review movies in the Horror Genre because I watch just about everything with my wife - and she hates Horror Movies but I managed to squeeze this one in recently. It’s just been released on Netflix, so I was glad to get another movie in, that falls under your standard streaming services and doesn’t require extra payment!

The Pope’s Exorcist, I think would be best described as ‘Easy Horror’. It’s only a 15 Rating, so you don’t have to watch through your fingers and then immediately watch an episode of Spongebob Squarepants after, before going to bed to get your mind off the fear. It would also be a good intro to Horrors if you have teenagers in that age range, who haven’t been watching 18’s behind your back.

Russell Crowe plays the part of Gabriel Amorth, who is the Vaticans main man when it comes to Exorcisms and he is sent to Spain to investigate a particularly strange possession of a young American boy, who has recently moved there with his family. Hidden secrets of the past are uncovered during his investigation and we get a good mix of storyline along with action and good CGI too! Without giving anything away, the ending could leave it open for a raft of sequels - and we hope it does.

I liked it a lot, the wife actually put her kindle down and watched it all and enjoyed it too. It doesn’t get the best scores on the likes of IMDB but we’re going with a well-worth-a-watch 7.4/10
