If you have a Yellowstone-shaped void in your life after the end of that fantastic show, then fret not - Taylor Sheridan seems to have nailed the recipe for a great show, with not just Yellowstone, but also prequels ‘1883’ and ‘1923’ and now his latest show - Landman.

Landman centres around Billy Bob Thornton’s character Tommy Norris - a tough operations manager for an Oil Company - in a land where everyone seeks out riches. It’s a stressful job that blurs the line between legal and illegal on a daily if not hourly basis, and he pulls no punches as he ‘gets things done’. It is the same sort of action and storylines as Yellowstone but there are no horses this time. He has to contend with Drug Cartels, Oil Bosses, his own alcohol addiction and far-from-simple family situation - let alone the daily dangers of the actual oil extraction work.

His daughter Ainsley, is a face you will recognise from her part in Sheridan’s ‘1923’ series and as a pretty, late teen - she ensures her antics keep him on edge. Ali Larter (you’ll recognise her face from the Final Destination movie) plays Angela Norris - Tommy’s ex-wife and boy oh boy is she a handful. You’ll soon see why he’s an alcoholic.

The show moves at a good pace, there is plenty of action to keep your attention and with Taylor Sheridan as the writer - nothing is off the table. The acting is really good all round and Billy Bob Thornton excels in the role. It is no surprise to see the show nominated for awards this year.

If you loved Yellowstone, you’ll love this - 8.4/10.
