If you are into your Brit-flicks, there is a good chance you are watching this 4th and final instalment of the Bridget Jones Movies having enjoyed the first three movies. Believe it or not, the popular first movie - Bridget Jones’s Diary, came out a frightening 24 years ago!
If you haven’t seen the first three movies - please watch them first, so you understand the storyline and characters - spoiler alerts coming up if you haven’t.
In this movie, Bridget is a single mum of two after sadly becoming widowed. The movie follows Bridget’s life as her family and friends encourage her back to work and to hopefully find love again.
It will be a bit of a sentimental movie for anyone who has watched along since the first movie and its a decent send off. Personally, we hoped the storyline might have included more of Hugh Grants character (which unfortunately just wasn’t part of the plot this time round). It’s really just more clumsy, silly antics - blended with more heart-warming moments but overall it is likely a movie you’ll watch once and never again.
There will be a niche of diehard fans who are already invested in the franchise - and will love it…but for the average movie-goer, it’s just ok.
It’s had mixed reviews from the critics but for us its a basic 5.9/10 but before you jump down our throats, there will no doubt be a group of nostalgic Bridget Jones fans who will score this 8/10 or better. If you know what camp you are in - one of these scores will apply to you.
