iHostage (2025)

Available on Netflix

Rated 15

We have struggled to find many good movies to recommend this Month (April) but iHostage has just jumped to the top of the Netflix charts. It’s based on true events and very simply put - its about a gunman who has a stand-off with police and special forces after starting a hostage situation in an Apple store in Holland.

It’s a Dutch film, which you can choose to watch dubbed or watch it in its native language with subtitles - I can’t stand dubbed films or shows so I would personally recommend the subtitle option….

It’s nothing special but its an easy watch. With it being based on true events, it feels like the script has just kept to an exact story and it doesn’t try to do anything special to bring it up a level. If you are looking for something decent to pass the time, this will do just nicely.

A straight-forward, ‘does-exactly-what-it-says-on-the-tin’ 6.1/10 and no disrespect intended but it shows you the current movie landscape when its at number 1 in Netflix’s charts.
